What PhonicSky is

What phonics is, and why it works

Phonics is a way of teaching reading that starts with sound. Instead of asking a child to memorise whole words by sight, phonics teaches them the sounds each letter and letter group makes, then how to blend those sounds together into words.

This matters because English is built on sound. Once a child knows that "c-a-t" blends into "cat," they can use the same skill to read thousands of words they've never seen before, on their own. That's the difference between memorising and decoding: memorising runs out, decoding keeps going. Decades of reading research point to phonics as the most reliable path to confident, independent reading, which is why it's the approach schools around the world build their reading programmes on.

What PhonicSky is

PhonicSky is an online phonics platform for children aged 3 to 9. It takes the phonics method and turns it into short, playful lessons that follow the natural order reading is built in: sound by sound, then blending sounds into words, then words into independent reading. Your child learns through the lessons; you manage everything from a parent dashboard.

Who it's for

PhonicSky is designed for parents who want to give their child a strong, structured start with reading at home. You don't need to be a teacher, and you don't need to know phonics yourself. The platform handles the teaching; your job is to set your child up and cheer them on.

How it's organised

Learning is split into four levels that your child moves through in order:

  • Seed: the foundation, free for everyone.
  • Seedling: early phonics.
  • Sprout: intermediate decoding.
  • Bloom: advanced reading, leading to independent reading.

Each level is made of modules, chapters, and lessons, so your child always has a clear next step. You can read more about how these fit together on the next page.

What your child does

Your child learns in Kids Mode, a safe, focused space that shows them only their lessons, their daily goal, and their rewards. They watch short lessons, practise sounds and words, and earn stars and badges as they go. Everything else, including your account and settings, stays on the parent side.

What you do

From your parent dashboard you add your child, track their progress, manage your plan, and keep everyone in the loop with weekly family updates. You set things up once, then check in whenever you like.

Getting started is free

Every account starts free with the full Seed level. You can see how PhonicSky works for your child before deciding to upgrade, with no card needed to begin.
