Adding your child's profile
Where to add a learner
Open My Learners from the left menu, then click + Add Learner at the top right. This opens the Add Learner form.
The form has three steps, shown as a progress bar at the top: Profile, Academic, and Interests. Only the Profile step is required. You can skip the other two and add them later.
Step 1: Profile (required)
This is the only step you must complete.
- Enter your child's first name. Last name is optional.
- Enter their date of birth.
- Choose a gender (optional).
- Set a 4-digit PIN. Your child uses this PIN to enter Kids Mode, so keep it somewhere you'll remember.
Under Language Dynamics, you'll also set:
- Mother tongue (required): start typing a language and pick from the matches.
- Languages spoken at home (required): type a few letters and choose from the matches, up to three.
- Other language being learnt (optional): a language your child is learning in school or privately, besides English and their mother tongue.
Step 2: Academic (optional)
If you'd like, add your child's standard or grade, division, school name, and school address. These details are optional and stay private to your account. Skip this step entirely if you prefer.
Step 3: Interests (optional)
Pick any topics your child loves, such as animals, dinosaurs, space, vehicles, nature, ocean, sports, music, art, or fairytales. PhonicSky uses these to personalise lesson themes. This step is optional too.
When you're done, click + Add Learner. Your child now appears under My Learners and is ready to start.
Which level to start at
New learners begin at Seed, and we recommend everyone starts there. The curriculum is built as a deliberate progression, Seed to Seedling to Sprout to Bloom, where each level prepares your child for the next. Starting at Seed gives your child the strongest foundation and the smoothest path to independent reading, even if they already know some letters or sounds.
Adding another child
You can add as many learners as you like from the same place. Open My Learners, click + Add Learner at the top right, and complete the same steps.
One thing to know: your subscription includes one learner seat by default. To have a second or third child learning on their own profile, you'll add an extra seat. See the billing pages for how seats and their cost work.
Editing a learner later
You can change any detail you entered at setup. Open My Learners, and on the learner's dashboard click Edit at the top right. From there you can update their profile, academic, and interests information.
