The two numbers that matter
Sounds mastered and days practised. Everything else is detail. A child who practises most days and steadily adds sounds is exactly on track, whatever the comparison charts whisper.
What “mastered” means
A sound counts as mastered when your child recognises and uses it reliably across several sessions — not just once on a good day.
When progress looks flat
Plateaus are normal and usually precede a jump. If a plateau lasts more than three weeks, drop the level down one notch for a confidence week.
